Our Story
The practice was founded in 2005, specialising in energy-efficient lighting. Now we undertake a wide variety of lighting design projects, and operate all over Britain.
As an established and independent lighting design consultancy we are known for our professionalism and attention to detail. Our independence means we are not tied to particular manufacturers or suppliers so we can bring real value to every stage of your lighting project.
What we do
Our lighting schemes will meet your actual and potential lighting needs and take account of other project parameters such as budget, delivery times, and planning/regulatory approvals.
Our Specifications are thorough and will include all the controls needed for successful operation of the lighting scheme – movement detection, daylight linking, dusk-dawn, or dimming.
LED lights have many more variables than traditional light sources. Our expertise means we guide you through all these, particularly lumen output, dimming, colour temperature and rendering, and product guarantees, so you will achieve the best lighting for your project – now and in the long term.
Our philosophy
We believe our independence helps us provide a comprehensively better service to our clients. Our freedom to source light fittings and supplies from every manufacturer means we can focus on the priorities for each project. And if we cannot find what is needed we are able to design and supply bespoke items to create unique lighting solutions. Our aim is to ensure our clients will be delighted with what we have achieved — however large or small the project.
Our principal
Lampholder Lighting Design was founded by its Principal, Benedict Cadbury. He has worked in the lighting industry since 1997 and is a Fellow of the Society of Light & Lighting. He is Lighting Advisor to the Peterborough Diocesan Advisory Committee and is the author of two guides produced by the Society of Light & Lighting.
